[Review] Webtoon: Annarasumanara

Hello everyone! I back with this comic. Actually, this is the first time I write about a comic (review a comic). But, it’s okay. I really love this comic! 

WARNING: I write this because I’ve read the story. It’s better for you to read the story first. But, it’s up to you 🙂

I don’t know why I really love this comic. I’ve read so many comic (manga/manhwa/webtoon), and I’ve found an interesting comic which named ‘Cat Street’. But, one day, I found this comic, and suddenly I fall in love with the story.

Let’s just start.

I’ll introduce you, Yoon Ah-ee (read: Ai because the hangul version is 윤아이)

She’s just one of high school student and she’s one of the student who on top ranking. Her mom left her and her sister when she was younger. Her dad left too but for work I think. Ha Il-Kwon (the author) didn’t tell about her father. He just left. Yes, he just left, but one day he came back with money but left again.

And, one thing, she always write a letter for her mother. She always tell her mom about her days.

Yoon Ai actually works part-time and she really need money for herself and her sister. Because she has no money, she couldn’t buy new stocking. Her classmates always looking at her stocking which is filled by hole.

One day, she earned 10.000 Won ($10) and when she looked at it, it flew. She chased for it but she didn’t know that she has arrived at the amusement park.  When she realized that she was at the amusement park, she remembered about her and her family when they went to that amusement park. But, now, the amusement park has closed down.

Suddenly, someone came.

That, he’s L. He’s name just L. Actually, his full name is Ryu Min-hyuk. What a handsome name like his face. I’m NOT crazy, of course. But, I LIKE him. He’s just, oh, I don’t know how to explain this. But, he’s so handsome. REALLY handsome.

He’s the weird magician who everyone keep talking about. He’s NOT weird. Of course, it’s not because he’s handsome, but he’s just childish. He doesn’t want to be an adult.

He told everyone that he could do REAL magic. But, actually, he couldn’t do real magic, he just used trick like the other magician. But, Yoon Ai believed him. She knew that L couldn’t do real magic, but she still believe him.

I was crying when I read this comic. Seriously. There’s a lot of meaning of this story. Eventhough I’ve read the story, I’m still don’t know what’s the meaning of Annarasumanara. I think, it’s just a magic spell of L’s.

Everyone who have read this story keep telling that this story is amazing. Yes, I agree with everyone. There’s a lot of slice of life things. I wanted that Yoon Ai and L later could be a couple. But, there’s no impossible to have a sad ending. I was crying because L is nowhere after he disappeared.

I don’t mind if L is going out with 17-years-old girl  (Yoon Ai), because L is 30 years old. He’s old but he doesn’t want to be an adult.

I’m 15 years old and the fact that I don’t want to be an adult is RIGHT. I’ve read and seen so many bittersweet stories. I still want to be a child or just a teenager. Adult life is, uh, scary? Maybe. I just don’t want to do some works like what my parents do right now.

L is right. He doesn’t want to be an adult, that’s why he keep telling everyone that he do real magic.

Annasumanara is telling everyone that you don’t have to follow what your parents want. Just do what you want, follow your dreams. Don’t leave your dreams. You know, I have heard about adult’s story about their works.

You have to follow your path. Do what is RIGHT not what is easy.  Do what you like. I have a dream to be a doctor, but now when I think about it again, I want to be an architect.  You shouldn’t have to do what you really want to do, you should do something you enjoy.

I want to be an architect because I enjoy it when I draw something. I like drawing and writing stories. When I draw it, I just enjoy it. If I can’t be an architect, then I’ll  be an IT manager. I enjoy something that connected with IT. I really enjoy something that connected with technologies.

Eventhough it’s a sad ending, I do NOT regret it. There’s a lot of message and Ha Il-Kwon drew it beautifully. The art is different. He draw something with colour when he need something different. Like the money, he draw it with colour.

There’s another cast actually. He’s Na Il-Deung (which means: Number One). He always ranked on number one, but he’s bad at Math. He sit beside Yoon Ai. He likes Yoon Ai, but Yoon Ai like L, I think.

When L said that he likes Yoon Ai, Ha Il-Kwon didn’t  continue the story. He didn’t tell what happened next. He just tell that Yoon Ai keep thinking about L’s feeling towards her.

Yoon Ai thought that feeling kind of feeling from parent to children. But, I think it’s not. I know that L like Yoon Ai. The way he looked at Yoon Ai, the way he helped her, the way he laughed because of Yoon Ai, and everything. I like it.

But, in the end, they couldn’t be together.
